Description

The MICROSHIFT SWORD BLACK RD-G7900M rear derailleur is the single-chainring derailleur in the affordable SWORD BLACK gravel range. Its medium cage accepts cassettes with sprockets up to 48 teeth, covering the full range of a modern 1x setup in a drivetrain that is simple to adjust and easy to maintain.

Its major advantage is cross-compatibility: it works with microSHIFT SWORD, SWORD BLACK, ADVENT and ADVENT X shifters. That lets you upgrade a bike one part at a time or repair an existing setup without replacing the entire groupset.

Does it have a clutch? No. That is the difference from the SWORD RD-G7005M derailleur, which has one. On very rough trails, a narrow-wide chainring is still recommended.

Does it work with 9 or 10 speeds? Both: it is approved for 9- and 10-speed setups.

Key features

Compatible with SWORD, SWORD BLACK, ADVENT and ADVENT X shifters: the most versatile derailleur in the range for upgrading a bike one component at a time.

Up to 48 teeth with a medium cage: the full range of a modern 1x drivetrain without a long cage.

Compatible with both 9- and 10-speed setups: one derailleur for two drivetrain standards.

Steel cages: simple, durable construction built to last rather than save grams.

An affordable entry point to a microSHIFT 1x gravel drivetrain.
