Is it compatible with straight-tube frames? It is designed for tubes with an internal diameter of 44 mm. To install a tapered fork into this type of tube, the lower cup must be of the external type (EC44).
Is stainless steel really necessary? Yes, because cable housings passing through the headset can allow moisture to enter. Stainless steel bearings are the only guarantee that your steering will remain smooth and free of “stiff spots” after a rainy or intense season.
Can I install it myself? Installing the cups requires a specialized cup press. For routing the cables, some mechanical knowledge is required, although the semi-internal system is much easier to manage than a fully internal system.
