Description
The AERON ExtraLite Protect Alu Valve inner tube uses the balanced TPU construction of the ExtraLite range, with one difference that matters in use: an aluminium Presta valve body with a removable valve core, whereas the standard version uses a fixed polymer body.
The benefit is twofold. Aluminium adds stiffness and durability to the most stressed part of the inner tube — the part handled at every inflation and most likely to break. And the removable valve core allows you to fit a valve extender on a deep-section rim, or simply replace a faulty core rather than the entire inner tube.
In terms of performance, it remains at Level 3 “Endurance / High Performance”: 75/100 for puncture protection, weight saving and rolling resistance, compared with 50, 20 and 40 for a butyl inner tube. In 23-28 mm, it weighs 37 g, or 65% less than an equivalent butyl tube. 65 mm valve. Made in Austria, from the RTI Sports group — the company behind Ergon.
Important: this inner tube is intended for disc-brake bikes. AERON does not approve it for rim brakes, as heat build-up can degrade the TPU.
