Description
The AERON SuperLite Race Alu Valve inner tube is the top of the range: the lightest and fastest TPU inner tube in the AERON catalogue, designed for riders chasing watts and grams. Its TPU wall is thinner than that of the ExtraLite, bringing weight down to 21 g in 23-28 mm — around 78% less than a butyl inner tube.
It is rated Level 2 “Race / Maximum Performance” on the AERON scale, with a maximum score of 100/100 for both weight saving and low rolling resistance, compared with 20 and 40 for butyl. Let us be clear about the trade-off: for puncture protection, it scores 50/100, the same level as a conventional butyl inner tube — and less than the ExtraLite Protect, rated 75. This is a race inner tube, not one for touring.
Its Presta valve body is aluminium with a removable valve core, allowing a valve extender to be fitted on a deep-section rim. Available in 42, 65 or 80 mm. Made in Austria, from the RTI Sports group — the company behind Ergon. Repairable with the dedicated AERON patch kit.
Important: this inner tube is intended for disc-brake bikes. AERON does not approve it for rim brakes, as heat build-up can degrade the TPU.
