Description

The 27.5-inch DT Swiss XMC 320rim embodies all the Swiss brand’s expertise in a compact design tailored for all-mountain and aggressive trail riding. Designed for custom wheelbuilders and racers, this bare carbon rim is the ideal centerpiece for building an ultra-responsive drivetrain that’s agile through turns and exceptionally sturdy.

Thanks to its 27.5-inch size and the use of high-modulus carbon, it weighs even less than its 29-inch counterpart, while naturally increasing its torsional stiffness. Its 30 mm internal width offers the perfect profile for wide trail and lightweight enduro tires, allowing you to ride at lower pressures for exceptional grip and traction on technical descents and steep turns.

Why choose the 27.5" version of the XMC 320 over the 29" version? The 27.5" option meets two specific needs: the pursuit of absolute maneuverability (for shorter riders or those who prefer a very nimble bike that turns on a dime) and the setup of so-called “Mullet” hybrid builds. Mounting this rim on the rear with a 29" rim on the front offers the perfect compromise: the front wheel’s ability to tackle obstacles, and an ultra-responsive rear wheel that creates clearance above the saddle on steep descents.

What type of tire and what pressure should you use on this 30 mm rim? As with the 29" version, the hookless design requires the use of Tubeless Ready or Tubeless tires only. Thanks to the 30 mm width, you can fit generous 2.40 or 2.50-inch tires. This allows you to lower the tire pressure (often below 1.5 bar, depending on your weight) to achieve phenomenal rear-wheel traction, which is essential during technical climbs and emergency braking.

Is it compatible with the demands of an e-MTB (E-Bike)? Absolutely. Certified to ASTM Category 4 and capable of supporting up to 120 kg of total load, its compact 27.5" carbon frame offers exceptional lateral stiffness, ideal for withstanding the high torque and powerful bursts of acceleration from electric motors without any wheel deformation.

Points forts
