ODYSSEY Optis Anti-Pinch Flat Insert 700x25/30 with Dual Valve

The ODYSSEY OPTIS pneumatic insert offers an innovative approach to protecting tubeless setups. Unlike traditional foam inserts, the OPTIS (Odyssey Pneumatic Tire Insert System) is an independent pneumatic inner chamber that sits inside the tubeless tyre and inflates to a higher pressure than the tyre itself.

This design allows you to run relatively low tyre pressures to enhance grip, comfort and rolling efficiency on uneven surfaces, while the high-pressure insert supports the tyre and helps protect the rim against impacts and pinch flats. As a starting point, Odyssey recommends lowering tyre pressure by around 10% and inflating the OPTIS to around 25% above the desired tyre pressure, while always maintaining a higher pressure in the insert.

The OPTIS also exerts pressure on the tyre beads to keep them locked against the rim. This function significantly reduces the risk of partial bead unseating and air loss ("burping") under heavy loads. In the event of total tyre pressure loss, the insert helps temporarily hold the tyre on the rim, providing limited run-flat capability that allows the rider to slow down and stop more easily.

Particularly lightweight compared to many traditional tubeless inserts, the OPTIS system is also easy to install: mounting is similar to fitting an inner tube, and inflating it helps push the tyre beads into the rim hooks.

Developed for performance, this system was notably showcased at the highest level when the Lidl-Trek team used it during the 2026 Paris-Roubaix, following extensive testing ahead of the classic.
