Description
The Rennen Infinity chainring bolts are the result of obsessive work on one of the most mundane BMX components. Rennen Design Group reports 97 CAD iterations, 22 machining programme variants and numerous finite element simulations to produce this bolt, machined in-house in the United States on a multi-axis CNC lathe from 7075-T6 aluminium.
Two design choices set it apart. A shoulder located just below the head distributes the load instead of concentrating it on the thread, making it, according to the brand, the strongest 7075 chainring bolt on the market. And where the rest of the market uses a 5 mm hex socket, Rennen chose 4 mm: less material removed, therefore 8.5% greater strength. Rennen is confident enough in this design to offer a lifetime breakage warranty: a broken bolt is replaced.
This is the XL version, 9 mm long, compared with 6.2 mm for the Regular. It is specifically intended for thick crank spiders, such as the Answer Accelerator, where a standard-length bolt does not provide enough engagement. Pack of 4 black bolts for 4-bolt chainrings (104 mm BCD), fitted with 4 and 8 mm Allen keys.
