Description
The Sidi HIEMX S GTX is the Italian manufacturer’s winter MTB and cross-country shoe. It is aimed at riders who keep putting down power when temperatures drop and refuse to swap their XC shoes for hiking shoes come November.
The upper is lined with a PFC-free Gore-Tex membrane and a thermoregulating fleece lining: water and wind stay out, perspiration escapes, and the temperature inside remains stable. A ripstop outer adds the abrasion and cut resistance needed on wooded trails, while the toe is reinforced against impacts from stones. The Firmor™ lateral support system and an anatomical heel counter provide a secure fit.
The sole is made from X2CC composite with a stiffness index of 7 on Sidi’s 5-to-12 scale, with rubber designed for grip on the ground. They fasten with a dial and hook-and-loop strap and have a 2-bolt SPD cleat fitting. The Millennium fit, wider and rounder at the front, comes into its own here: in winter, thicker socks are needed, and the extra room prevents pressure that restricts circulation and leaves toes cold. The grey-and-white colourway is the most understated in the range.
